Reports from Chakumi Mission Field

Chakumi is one of the villages in Gwagwalada Municipal Area Council across the River Gurara. Islam is the predominant religion with about 75% of the population. About 5% are Christians and the rest are idol worshipers! The Church at Chakumi began under a mango tree and later used a primary school bulding as a worship center until opposition came in from authorities.
A land was given to the church in the village which later became a bone of contention between the church and a group. The group claimed ownership of the land and began scheming Christians out of the land.Intimidations follow, betrayals, arrests, and all sorts but the grace of God was sufficient. When the leader of the group was interrogated, he claimed the land had already been given to the group. Authorities handling the case insisted that the village head must be present to assist in settling the issue.

The village head refuted the claim that the land belonged to the group as he emphasised that he gave the land to the Christian community of his own will. With that, the case was dismissed and arrested missionaries were released.
At Chakumi, the village head issued a better piece of land with a promise of more plots if the need arises.
God fought for Christians in Chakumi and delivered them from the conspiracy of the wicked and blessed the little church abundantly.
Though the challenges are daunting, and the hostility more obvious, yet, the missionaries are optimistic that the gate of hell will not prevail against the church. God added new converts to the church recently while we strongly pray for their sustenance.
